Wiring and setting up the Digital Command Control (DCC) system for the layout.

The Model Rectifier Corp. (MRC) Prodigy Express Squared system was chosen. It provides the perfect amount of power for a small layout such as ours. It is reliable and easy-to-use, yet shares many of the features of more advanced MRC systems.

This DCC system features:
- Command station, tethered throttle, and 1.6 Amp power supply
- Easy-to-follow instructions printed on the handheld
- 28 accessory functions
- Read and program CV's
- Program on the main or on the program track
- Two or four digit addressing (0-9999 addresses available)
- Supports advanced consisting for realistic multiple-unit lashups
- Simultaneously run multiple throttles
- Recall and stack features
- Decoder readback
- Capable of working with JMRI software
- Easily expandable with other MRC products, including wireless throttles and a WiFi module for smartphone app control
