Introduced in 1913 to comply with tougher state laws mandating caboose safety, the Pennsylvanias Class N6B wood cabin cars (cabooses) lead long lives, remaining in regular service into the 1960s. The cars were designed to clear eastern tunnels with a unique narrow cupola with tapered sides and a pronounced roof arch.
