The railroad hauled freight (typically coal, coke, lumber, and stone) as well as regular passenger service between Latrobe and Ligonier, serving small communities along the route such as Darlington, Kingston, and Oakville. The railroad also serviced Idlewild Park, a popular small amusement park. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAccording to the Ligonier Valley Railroad Museum, \"In purchasing No. 807 and No. 594, both from Southern Railway, and an Army surplus switcher engine, No. 4025, Ligonier was able to continue business for another couple years.
