For some of our customers, staying at home more due to the COVID-19 pandemic gave them more time to work on their train layout.
Mary Schantz decided to use the time to build a more permanent layout. She explained, "A few years ago, we inherited our dad’s Lionel 226e set that he received for Christmas in 1939. It seemed like a shame that it only came out around the holiday. Covid provided a great excuse to build a layout to showcase his train and a few others that we have picked up along the way."
Mary added, "I’ve learned so much in such a short time - both from trial and error and from the online community of model train enthusiasts who willingly share their creativity and expertise!"
As you can see from these photos, her layout is now very detailed. Great job!
Train layouts can also grow over time. Mary said, "The layout started as 4x8 and quickly expanded to 5x10 as I tried new things and wanted a larger loop. We’re hoping that our niece and nephew (7 and 4) are getting to the age where they can enjoy it too. It’s a great hobby!"
Did you add to your layout during the pandemic? We would love to see it!
Send us pictures of your layout via Facebook messenger or email (bradystrains@gmail.com) with a brief description, and we might feature it on the blog!
