Brady's Train Outlet is always looking for quality model trains and accessories to meet the needs of our growing customer base. We buy collections of all sizes—from a single locomotive to an entire estate—and we offer fair, straightforward pricing with a simple selling process.
We purchase trains from all scales and eras, although we give preference to models produced within the last 20 years, as newer trains typically feature improved detail, sound, lighting, and technology.
Why sell to Brady's?
Selling a collection yourself can be time-consuming, stressful, and unpredictable. Listing items individually on eBay or other marketplaces means photographing every item, creating listings, answering questions, packing and shipping orders, handling returns, and dealing with buyers. There's also the risk of damaged shipments, non-paying buyers, and locomotives that may need costly repairs before they can be sold.
When you sell to Brady's, we take on all of that responsibility. We purchase your collection outright, handle repairs, testing, cleaning, pricing, and resale, so you don't have to.
Whether you're downsizing, settling an estate, or simply moving on from the hobby, we make the process as easy as possible.
Getting Started
- Complete our online survey:

Include item numbers (SKU), condition, and as many photos as possible. The more information you provide, the more accurate our estimate can be. It is possible to upload multiple different types of files at once. - We'll contact you.
A Brady's representative will review your submission and discuss the next steps.
For very large collections, we can provide a Dropbox link for additional photos.
You can edit your submission to add more photos or files by using the link that will be emailed to you.
What You'll Need
- A typed inventory list (Excel or similar program is preferred)
- Item SKU numbers (found on the box)
- Item condition (appearance and whether it operates, if known)
- Photos of your collection—the more, the better!
What Happens Next?
After reviewing your information, we'll provide a preliminary estimate.
Depending on the size of your collection:
- Small collections or individual items can often be shipped to us.
- Many customers choose to bring their collections to our store, if they live within driving distance.
- For large collections, we may be able to travel to purchase and transport everything ourselves.
Understanding Value
Model train values change over time and are based on today's market—not original purchase price or older price guides.
Factors that affect value include:
- Demand and desirability
- Rarity
- Overall condition
- Operating condition
- Original box and packaging
- Features such as sound and command control
Older trains are not always more valuable. Many common postwar, MPC-era, Tyco, Life-Like, and similar models have limited demand today, while many newer trains command stronger prices because of their advanced features.

- Purchasing decisions are based on condition, market demand, and resale potential.
- We do not purchase used track or transformers, but may take it off your hands if offered as part of a collection.
- Original boxes significantly increase value whenever available.
- Our offers reflect current market conditions and the costs of testing, repairing, cleaning, storing, and reselling the collection.
