Electric vs Battery Train Sets

"Why buy an electric train when a battery one is so much cheaper?"
We get this question a lot during the holiday season. Electric trains have many advantages over battery-powered sets.

Our ready to run electric train sets are able to be run right out of the box. No additional batteries or equipment are required!

While electric train sets cost more, the engine and cars are highly detailed and much, much more durable than the $50 battery set you might find at Walmart. Don't disappoint your kids with a train that will just break after a season. Give them a set that they can treasure for years, even their whole lifetime! Remember, you get what you pay for!

Another advantage of electric trains is that the engines have many more features and sounds, and can even be run with your phone! The Polar Express set, for example, features audio from the movie in addition to realistic train sounds (bells, whistles, etc). Electric train engines also produce smoke.

Any of our ready to run sets are expandable. You can add additional cars and track easily, as long as it is the right scale. We have add-on cars at many price points.

If your electric train breaks, it can be repaired (even if it's out of warranty) If a battery train breaks, you'll typically need a whole new set.

At Brady's, we stand behind our products and ensure their quality. That is why you won't find any battery operated train sets in our store.
