We buy trains!

Posted by John Brady on

Did you know that in addition to selling a wide variety of quality model trains and accessories, we also regularly buy trains and train collections?

We make the process of selling your model trains easy and straightforward. We understand that it can be difficult to sell items with which you have many fond memories. Some customers sell us items from their collection in order to downsize and open up more space for new interests, while others bring in pieces to trade for newer items in order to update their layouts.

John Brady has a reputation for his knowledge about model trains (including older pieces) and he always gives customers a fair quote for their items.

We receive many inquiries for estimates. Customers often email us a list of the pieces they wish to sell or bring their collection into the store. In some cases, when the collection is large enough, we will drive out and transport it back to the store ourselves—it doesn’t get any easier than that!

A common situation we encounter is estate settlement. It can be especially challenging to figure out how to sell a model train collection if a loved one passes away. Brady’s Train Outlet is known for providing knowledge, guidance, and a fair price—we are here to help!

We recently purchased a collection as part of an estate settlement. We worked with the family’s lawyer to negotiate a fair price and dismantle the layout. We first documented the layout with photographs, as it was quite impressive in its size and detail. It had even been featured in a model railroading magazine!

We plan to find all of these items new homes, and we know that these unique finds will be treasured additions to our customers’ layouts and collections. Some buildings and accessories will be added to our store display as well. In this way, the legacy of this model railroader will live on!
