Manufacturer Information:

  • Superceded the No. 2357 as the premiere caboose used in premium sets in 1949.
  • Distinguished by the Lionel L imprint inside two concentric circles on the sides.
  • Four variations: Variation A (Chocolate Brown painted body, Brown plastic stack), Variation B (Same as A, but with die-cast stack), Variation C (Gloss Brown painted body with Black die-cast stack), Variation D (Maroon painted body with Black die-cast stack).
  • First three variations have staple-end trucks; Variation D has bar-end trucks.
  • All cars come with magnetic couplers, ladders, brake wheels, and tool boxes.
  • Production ceased in 1952.
