Still the best selling passenger diesel of all time, EMDs E7 picked up where the E6 had left off before WWII, but with its already proven power wrapped in a new look. Gone were the sleek slanted noses of the earlier E units, replaced with the "Bulldog" nose introduced on the immensely popular FT. Orders for the new locomotives came pouring in from railroads eager to dieselize their passenger service in the booming postwar economy. This new run of E7s from Lionel captures some of the greatest paint schemes ever worn by these locomotives, including some very early variations.
