Manufacturer Information:
In the mid-1940s, shortly before the American Locomotive Company showcased its brand new passenger locomotive, the PA, the company placed a sister freight locomotive, the FA, in its catalog. The FA was similar in styling to the PA, although shorter in length with a more blunt nose. The FA competed head-on with the popular F units of EMD. Although they never matched the sales of the EMD units, the ALCos are still considered by many to be among the most handsome diesel locomotives ever built. The 1500 horsepower freight units saw service all over the country. The first Lionel model of an ALCo FA appeared in 1950 and was prized by model railroaders for its performance and striking styling. With fond memories, Lionel proudly unveils three all-new, scale-sized ALCo FA-2s and matching FB-2 B-units. The TMCC-equipped Lionel FA-2s include the Odyssey System for speed control and many separately applied metal details. . FEATURES:, One powered FA-2 A-unit, one non-powered FA-2 A-unit , TrainMaster Command Control equipped—able to run in Command Control Mode or in Conventional Transformer Control Mode , RailSounds sound system with CrewTalk communication and TowerCom announcements , Odyssey System for speed control , Directional lighting including operating headlights , Four ElectroCouplers , Dual powerful maintenance-free motors with momentum flywheels , Four traction tires , Fan-driven smoke unit in each A-unit , Die-cast metal trucks, pilots, fuel tanks , Metal frames , Pivoting diaphrams on rear , Separately applied metal details , Lighted number boards , Lighted cab interiors , Engineer figures
