Hail to the Chief: Ronald Reagan’s Boyhood Home

The 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, lived some of his most formative years in rural Illinois. Living in Dixon, Illinois had a major impact on his life and helped create an average American kid who went on to live in the White House. The President’s home was added to the National Register of Historical Structures in 1982.

The Menards® rendering has a compact 8-1/8" by 10" footprint and rises 7-5/8" high. The building is fully assembled, and the base is decorated with grass and shrubs.

The three-story home has a broad front porch with hanging flower baskets, patio furniture, a red carpet, a small mailbox mounted on the wall, and even the President and Mrs. Reagan out front.

The front and rear doors each have nine panes. The windows all feature double window panes and have window treatments as well. Up top, the roof has an engaging number of sharp angles, no doubt to help snow slide off more easily! You’ll also spot fresh-looking shingles and gutters with downspouts.

The home has interior and exterior lighting that requires a 4.5-volt power supply. You can use the Menards® SKU# 279-4061/4361, 4060/4362, or 4050. You can connect it through a single plug over the tabletop or from beneath the house from a drop-down pigtail plug.

The Reagan house duplicates the historic home and adds a refreshing look of a typical small-town residence that would fit into any layout that incorporates structures from the 1930s or later.
