Your highway haven: The County Hotel from Menards
The basics: The County Hotel is a five-story contemporary hotel. The hotel has an 6-1/4 inch (deep) by 6-5/8 inch (wide) footprint and is 8-1/8 inches tall. The hotel features interior and exterior illumination. There is a rooftop lounge with tables and guests. The County Hotel by Menards sign illuminates in progressive sequence starting with the outline of the logo to full lighting.
For illumination the hotel requires a Menards 4.5 volt power supply, Menards SKU# 279-4061, 279-4062, or 279-4050. You may wish to consider the 8- or 9-piece Plug & Play accessory kits (SKU# 279-4035, 4681) and to serve multiple structures and vehicles. All are available separately.
Why you need this: You're driving cross-country. You are probably three exits beyond where you should have stopped for the night. When you finally pull off the Interstate, the County Hotel by Menards is exactly the kind of hotel you want to find waiting for you.
The building's design is a modern five-story structure with appealing colors and large windows. The central tower is gray and is crowned by the County Hotel by Menards illuminated sign. There is an under-roof drive for checking in and unloading your bags.
The entry has a sidewalk, red carpet, green turf, and a flower box. It is a pet friendly establishment, because Jack is out front getting a walk, and a guest with a satchel is striding up the walk. The overhang area is lighted from above.
The rooftop lounge is an oasis for the weary traveler or businessperson. Guests enter the rooftop patio through an entry just behind the hotel sign. There are two tables on each side of this enclosure. Each table has four chairs and an umbrella. Two guests are seated at a table and a third person is bringing them beverages.
The floor is simulated wood decking, and there are two tables at the rear of the patio. Each table has simulated wood texture, and is surrounded on three sides by seating. Two figures are conversing near one table. Three guests are in a tight conference on the other side of the roof, no doubt negotiating big deals.
The front has 18 room windows and three window sets on at the entry. The right and left sides have 12 room windows and windows on the first floor. The rear has 12 room windows above the rear train run-through/parking garage. The room windows have a mix of lights on/off and all have visible window treatments. This gives the hotel a business-like appearance, yet there is still plenty of room at the inn!
For power hookup the hotel has a side-mounted plug and a drop down pigtail plug for feeding below your tabletop.
If your layout is more modern than vintage, this is a must have for your town. Place it next to your train station and wait for the surge of O gauge tourists to arrive!
